This week’s Athlete of the Week is Beau Morton.
Beau, a junior at H-D-CAL High School, is a member of the boy’s track team, where he throws discus and shot put. His best throw so far has been 55’2,” making him second best in the North Central Conference. His best discus throw has come in at 148’8,” putting him fourth for the conference.
He said that his goal is to beat the school’s record for shot put of 56’ 7.” He also hopes to make it to state for discus.
Beau said that track has taught him many lessons, including the importance of hard work.
“When you really put in the work, you can achieve so much,” he said.
Outside of track, Beau participates in football and wrestling, along with band, as a percussionist.
The junior said he’s currently considering his options for college but that he knows he wants to attend a four-year school to study kinesiology like his big sister someday.
“I want to help people,” he said.
Beau lives in Hampton with his parents and siblings.
